HELPING Abuse Victims Get the Range of Support They Need
WHO We Are
The Elder and Adults with Disability Justice Program facilitates access to the range of care and services often needed by abuse victims and their families. We act as a main point of contact for those who have experienced harm or mistreatment and coordinate personalized support for each individual.
Our services are available to victims of crime in Solano County:
- Seniors who are 65 and older
- Disabled adults who are 18-64 with mental and/or physical disabilities that require assistance from others for normal activities and to protect their rights
Working with community partners, we help victims receive the support and services they need—which can range from counseling to compensation to rides to and from appointments. All services are free of charge.
SIGNS of Abuse
Knowing the signs of abuse and neglect can help you stop the harm or intervene early to help save the health, dignity, assets and even the life of an older adult or adult with disabilities.
Look for these signs:
Financial Abuse
- Unexplained loans, credit cards or withdrawals from bank accounts
- Suspicious changes in wills, titles, policies and power of attorney
Physical/Sexual Abuse
- Unexplained or uncharacteristic bruises or injuries
- Over/under medicated
- Torn, stained or bloody underclothing
Emotional Abuse
- Unusual depression, confusion or agitation
- Withdrawal from normal activities
- Threatening, belittling or controlling behavior by a caregiver
Neglect/Abandonment
- Poor personal hygiene
- Unsanitary living environment (filth, bugs, soiled bedding and clothes)
- Unsafe living conditions (no heat or running water, faulty wiring, fire hazards, extreme clutter)
Always contact authorities if you think something is wrong.
SERVICES We Offer
Solano County victims and their families can turn to the Elder and Adults with Disabilities Justice Program for:
Social Support
- Access to counseling, crisis intervention and support groups
- Interventions and mediation
- Assistance identifying and navigating appropriate social service agencies
- Referrals to victim service programs and community resources
- Personal advocacy and accompaniment to appointments
Criminal Justice
- Support for the emotional and physical needs of crime victims, including helping them stabilize their lives and achieve a measure of safety and security
- Assistance in speaking with law enforcement, completing police reports and obtaining protection or restraining orders
- Information about victim’s right and the criminal justice process and referrals to appropriate resources
Supportive Services
- Help seeking compensation for victims of financial crimes
- Emergency shelter services
- Emergency transportation services
Educational Presentations
- Local presentations that focus on protecting vulnerable populations against financial abuse and scams, recognizing the signs of abuse, what the Elder and Adults with Disabilities Justice Programs offers and more

Mission Statement

Volunteer with Us
Join our Elder Justice League and learn how you can help combat the abuse of vulnerable seniors and disabled adults in Solano County. We’re looking to organize groups in churches, senior communities, adult programs and more to offer education about abuse, as well as peer-to-peer counseling.
