We are thrilled to share some incredibly exciting news with our Empowered Aging family. This July, we are officially welcoming a beautifully familiar, deeply trusted advocate to steer our agency forward: Charmaine Brent.
For those who have worked alongside Charmaine, this next step feels like a natural evolution. She is a leader who truly knows our mission from the ground up because she has lived it at every single level. Charmaine first joined Empowered Aging as a Long-Term Care Ombudsman, walking facility hallways, listening to residents, and fighting on the front lines for the dignity of our community’s most vulnerable. Her natural leadership, operational brilliance, and fierce heart for advocacy quickly shone through, sparking a well-deserved journey up the ranks to Ombudsman Program Coordinator and, most recently, our Director of Programs and Services.
Beyond her extensive hands-on experience, Charmaine brings an impeccable academic and professional foundation to her new role leading the agency. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Counseling Services from the University of New Orleans and a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Clark Atlanta University, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Organization Management-Leadership from Liberty University. Prior to her time with us, she spent over 15 years mastering continuous quality improvement, training, and advocacy within complex social service systems.
Charmaine often reminds us that “all older adults and adults with disabilities matter—they deserve dignity, respect, and quality of life.”
As she steps into this top leadership space to guide the vision and future of Empowered Aging, we know our agency, our advocates, and the seniors we protect are in the most capable hands.
